Terms of Service
Last updated: April 29, 2026
Plain-language terms for using Toolpile. By visiting toolpile.orgor paying for a Pro subscription you’re agreeing to these. They’re short on purpose.
Who you’re dealing with
Toolpile is operated as a sole proprietorship by Umur Yavuz, based in Middelburg, the Netherlands. Reach a real human at [email protected].
What the service is
Toolpile is a collection of small web tools — PDF, image, developer, AI, business, productivity. Almost all of them run as JavaScript inside your browser; your file or text is processed locally and never uploaded to our servers. That privacy guarantee is the product. If a tool can only work by talking to a third-party API (DNS, IP, WHOIS, SSL lookups), the privacy policy lists which one and what it sees.
Free use, fair use, and the daily limit
You can use the site without an account. There’s a soft cap of 3 uses per tool per 24 hours, tracked in your browser’s local storage. We don’t enforce it server-side and we don’t treat going over it as fraud. It’s a nudge to upgrade if a tool has become part of your real workflow.
Don’t scrape the site, don’t automate it at industrial scale, and don’t resell it as your own. If you want to embed a tool somewhere or run it through an API, write to us first.
Pro subscription
Pro is €4.99 per month, billed by Stripe and renewing automatically until you cancel. It removes the daily limit, switches off the ads, and unlocks the AI-branded tools when those ship. You can cancel any time from your profile page or by emailing us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for.
Refunds (EU consumer law)
EU consumer law normally gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital services. Because the Pro subscription is delivered immediately, you waive that right at checkout in exchange for instant access — this is the standard EU exception for digital content where supply has begun with consumer consent.
That said: if you’re unhappy in the first 14 days, email [email protected] and we’ll refund you. After that, we don’t do partial refunds for unused time, but you can cancel and won’t be billed again.
Your content stays yours
We don’t take any rights in the files you process or the text you paste. Because most tools never upload, the question usually doesn’t arise — the bytes stay on your machine. For the few tools that contact a third-party API on your behalf (listed in the privacy policy), the third party’s terms apply to that request, not ours.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Toolpile to do anything illegal or to hurt other people. Concretely, don’t use it to:
- process material that’s child sexual abuse material;
- forge identity documents, financial instruments, or anything designed to defraud a real person;
- probe, scan, or attack systems you don’t own (the network-lookup tools are for your own infrastructure);
- harass, dox, or impersonate someone;
- circumvent the daily limit by automation, multiple browsers, or spoofed local storage at scale.
We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate any of the above. For free users that means ending the session and ip-blocking the abuser; for paid users it also means cancelling the subscription without further refund beyond the unused-period rule above.
Open-source components
Toolpile is built on top of permissively licensed open-source libraries — see the credits page for the full list. Those libraries keep their original licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC, BSD); these terms govern only the Toolpile service and our own code.
No warranty
The tools are provided “as is”. They handle a wide range of inputs, but they will sometimes fail on edge cases — a weird PDF, a malformed image, a browser without enough memory. Don’t use Toolpile as the only step in a process where getting it wrong is irreversible. Always keep a backup of any file you process and check the result before relying on it.
To the extent the law allows, Toolpile is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost profit, lost data, business interruption — arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for free users is zero.
None of this language is meant to limit rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction; if a clause here conflicts with such a right, that right wins.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be heard by the competent court in Middelburg, the Netherlands, unless consumer law in your country requires a different forum.
Changes
We’ll update these terms when something changes. The “last updated” date at the top moves with each change. If a change is material — a new fee, a new restriction — Pro subscribers get an email at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then without further charge.
